Abstracts Submission
The 1st Exercise for Health Summit is designed to explore the opportunities for interaction and collaboration between the overall Physical Activity sector and the Health one (focusing mainly in Public Health and Health-care), aiming to close the existing gaps.
Our aim is to bring together academics/scientists, health and life insurance companies, public health policymakers (incl. politicians and authorities), international institutions (i.e. EU, WHO, etc.), public health related NGOs, relevant health-care providers, club operators, equipment suppliers, digital/tech providers, health professionals, training providers and exercise professionals. Identifying and disseminating existing promising and/or best practices across Europe and globally; building up innovative and transformative partnerships; providing evidence about the potential impact of colocation initiatives; etc., we will try to inform and support the delivery and implementation of new policies promoting active living in a sustainable way, involving a responsible industry.
The 1st Exercise for Health Summit programme will involve keynotes from leading academic and policy experts, roundtables, case studies and promising practices.
Programme Structure:
- Keynotes (by world-class invited speakers).
- Coffee & Conversation Corner (C3) with keynote speakers (a chance to discuss with Keynote speakers).
- Concurrent Scientific and Professional Paper Presentations.
- Poster presentations.
1st Exercise for Health Summit Themes:
- Promising Practices: Exercise as Medicine, Clinical Exercise in Action (delivering physical activity/exercise programmes for the prevention and/or treatment of non-communicable chronic diseases in clinical and non-clinical environments);
- Research in Practice: leading research building up innovative interventions supporting active living, health promotion, exercise as medicine;
- Impact, challenges, and opportunities of co-location of health-care services and physical activity/exercise interventions/programmes/services;
- The Workforce Challenge: Preparation, Training & Professional Development for both, healthcare and exercise professionals.
- The Social an Economic Value of Physical Activity and Sport Participation. Moving forward building up an inclusive Wellbeing Society.
- Role of evidence informing policy supporting Active Living: closing the gap between the capabilities of the physical activity sector and the public health agenda.

Preparing your Abstract
Accepted abstracts will be published in a Special Supplement issue of the Exercise, Sport and Movement open-access journal of the American College of Sport Medicine (information about the journal at: https://www.acsm.org/education-resources/journals/exercise-sport-and-movement).
Abstracts accepted will be limited to 300 words (not including spaces, title, or author block). Including a table, chart or graph uses 300 characters of that limit. Please do not use brand names in the abstract. Indicate grant funding information at the bottom of the abstract.
Title: The title should be brief (limit to 15 words).
Authors: The first and last names of the authors will be included in the author block. Please do not include degrees.
Affiliation/Institutions: Institutions of all authors will be included. Please do not include departments/units.
Text: The abstract must be informative, including a statement of the study/project’s specific PURPOSE, METHODS, summary of RESULTS, and CONCLUSION statement using these headings.
Notification of Acceptance and Programming
You will be notified electronically of the acceptance/rejection of your abstract/case early September 2023. This notification will include the date and time of session/presentation as well as type of presentation if accepted.
Method of Presentation
The Scientific Committee will determine the method of presentation, which is based on submitter’s preference. Submitters will be given the presentation preference options of oral presentation preferred, poster preferred, or indifferent.
Oral presentation Sessions
Poster Presentations
Presentation of your abstract as an oral presentation (normally using slides) will be limited to 10 minutes, followed by a five-minute discussion period. Time limits will be strictly enforced.
- Posters provide a unique opportunity to share your study/project with a broad audience of qualified professionals, academics, industry leaders and policy makers.
- There will be a Best Poster Award to be selected from all posters presented by a designed panel from the Summit´s Scientific Committee during the event.
- Specific Best Poster Award´s criteria will be shared at the Summit webpage shortly.
Abstract Development & Submission Procedure:
The 1st Exercise for Health Summit invites you to submit an Abstract/Proposal to be considered for presentation in any of the afore mentioned presentation types.
How to Submit your Abstract
Deadline for Submission of Abstracts:6th October 2023
Language for Abstract: English
Review Process: All submissions will be assessed through a blind review process. Authors will be notified of a decision on or near 15th October 2023.
Further Considerations
All accepted abstracts will be published in a Special Supplement issue of the Exercise, Sport and Movement open-access journal of the American College of Sport Medicine. Upon acceptance, a minimum of one author must attend the 1st Exercise for Health Summit in person delivering the presentation/presenting the poster according to the scheduled day and time. Should an author not comply with the requirements, the Programme Chair or Summit organizer reserves the right to remove the abstract and/or presentation from the Summit schedule and the Special Supplement.
We are very much looking forward to receiving papers from all parts of Europe and across the globe to make this a truly unique and transformative international Summit.
